The Carroll Street Woodworkers an archive of ideas, inspiration and things we've done

The Carroll Street Woodworkers
desklamp prototype

Im a little tired of all these overly complicated desk lamps with bendy arms, swivels and springs. They’re often awkward and noisy.

Unless you handcrafting jewelry or tweaking your collection of “micro machines”, the ability to pinpoint the direction of your desk lamp is just not necessary.

Our latest answer to desktop lighting is this simple and modern, but classy item. The idea is that the shade can be painted out in any colour you like casting a bit of the mood that colour has to offer. The simple pull chain gives a little of that old school charm, and I’ve thought it might be nice to adorn the end of it with a small wooden pull. Further more I think that this idea could be nicely translated into a floor standing reading lamp. Stay tuned.
